Room Reservations
HSAB offers a variety of classrooms, conference rooms, collaboration spaces, and meeting rooms that support teaching, research, departmental business, and student activities. Reservation procedures vary depending on the type of space and its governing unit. Please review the categories below to determine how your desired space is scheduled.
University Classrooms (UCR)
University Classrooms are centrally managed by the Office of the Registrar and are available for academic courses and approved university activities. UCR spaces within HSAB must be reserved through the university classroom scheduling process.

HSHP Specialized Classrooms
HSHP maintains several specialized instructional spaces that support hands-on learning and discipline-specific teaching activities. These rooms are scheduled and managed by the department and may have additional access requirements, equipment restrictions, or usage guidelines.
Contact HSHP Facilities for scheduling assistance and availability.
Department Conference Rooms
HSHP conference rooms are available for department meetings, interviews, small group discussions, and other business-related activities. Most conference rooms can be reserved through Microsoft Outlook (Office 365) and support ad hoc reservations through the room's door-mounted scheduling panels.
Please review room capacity and technology capabilities before making a reservation.
Shared Building Conference Rooms & Work Commons
HSAB features conference rooms, work commons, collaboration areas, and shared spaces available to occupants from Health and Human Physiology (HSHP), Communication Sciences and Disorders (CSD), and Physical Therapy & Rehabilitation Science (PTSR).
Scheduling methods vary by space and may include:
Microsoft Outlook room calendars
Door-mounted iPad scheduling panels
Departmental reservation procedures
Users are expected to cancel reservations they no longer need and leave shared spaces ready for the next occupant.
Room Access & Scheduled Hours
Classroom and conference room access is managed through the building's electronic access control system. See HSHP Building Access & Keys for additional information.
HSHP conference rooms are generally scheduled to unlock during HSAB scheduled building hours.
Level 1 specialized classrooms are generally scheduled to unlock 30 minutes before the first scheduled class and lock 10 minutes before the end of the last scheduled class each day.
Exception: Anatomy teaching spaces operate under a restricted-access model and follow separate access procedures.
HSHP Administrative Suite and Faculty Offices are generally accessible during published HSAB building hours. Access to the fourth floor via Elevator 1 is restricted to HSHP faculty and administrative staff and requires an Iowa One Card with authorized access permissions.
For building access questions, please visit the Building Access & Keys page.
