SRM Advisory Board at 4th Annual Symposium

The UI Sport and Recreation Management motto – Student focused. Industry Centered. – is behind everything the program does. The latest initiative in support of the program’s philosophy is formation of the UISRM Advisory Board. The inaugural board consists of 14 sport and recreation industry professionals that are passionate about supporting the UISRM program, the faculty and the students at an elevated level. The board’s first meetings and activities together were a tremendous success and coincided with the fall SRM Symposium in early September.

Board members (see the following table) bring experience from the NFL, the NBA GLeague, campus and community recreation, intercollegiate athletics, broadcasting, agencies and other industry segments. While most board members graduated from the UISRM program (or an earlier version of the program before it became known as UISRM), there is no requirement for members to be alumni. The common trait our board members share is a belief in the UISRM program mission, the way the UISRM program prepares students for the industry, and a strong desire to support the continued success and advancement of UISRM.
