Building Access & Keys
Health Sciences Academic Building
This page provides information on building access, key requests, card access permissions, and HSAB operating hours. For the most current building information and resources maintained by Facilities Management, visit the official HSAB building page.
BUILDING ENTRY, SUITE ENTRY AND KEYED DOORS: Access is set in motion when a supervisor or a department administrator initiates a Electronic Access & Physical Key Access form. Building entry and door suite access (aka Swipe Access) requires usage of an official University of Iowa photo identification card, the Iowa One Card. Individuals assigned a physical key will be notified by email when the key is ready for pick-up from the HSHP Administrative Suite, 4500 HSAB. The key is required to be picked up by the specific person listed on the key request form unless otherwise specified. The individual must present their Iowa One Card to obtain the key(s). For Suite/Departmental hours modifications please e-mail HSHP-facilities@uiowa.edu.
TERMINATING EMPLOYEES: Employees departing from the university have an obligation to return all university keys to their DEO, departmental administrator, or directly to the HSHP Facilities drop off location.
STUDENTS: All HSHP undergraduate and graduate students are granted HSHP Student Success Center electronic access, and HSHP graduate students are granted HSHP Graduate Student Lounge access via the student ID card based on their status in MAUI.
Level 1 Specialized Classroom Access
Level 1 departmental classrooms are controlled through the building access system and are generally scheduled to unlock 30 minutes prior to the start of the first scheduled class and lock 10 minutes before the end of the last scheduled class of the day.
Exception: Anatomy teaching spaces operate under a restricted access model and are not included in the standard classroom access schedule. Access to anatomy classrooms is limited to authorized users and approved academic activities.
