Josh Lens, JD
About
A former attorney (JD, University of Iowa College of Law), Lens served on Baylor University’s athletics compliance staff from 2010 to 2017. Lens taught sports law and sport management courses at the University of Arkansas from 2018 to 2024 and has published dozens of academic articles regarding legal issues in college athletics.
Some of his recent work pertains to collegiate athletes' ability to accept compensation for use of their names, images, and likenesses. These articles related to NIL in college athletics are published in journals including Utah Law Review, SMU Law Review, and BYU Law Review. Lens has been interviewed and quoted by media outlets including the Associated Press, USA Today, The New York Times, Chicago Tribune, Pro Publica, Sportico, CBS Sports, Chronicle of Higher Education, The Athletic, and The Conversation. Lens has also made guest appearances on The Paul Finebaum Show and owns a consulting business, The Compliance Group.
